KOZHIKODE: A construction worker died in a sudden landslide in Nellikode on Sunday. It is reported that the victim, a migrant worker, was trapped inside the soil debris for more than two hours. He was identified as a native of West Bengal. The accident occurred due to a landslide during the construction of a flat of the Reigate Company in Nellikode. While carrying out the rescue operations, the land caved in again, making the rescue operations nearly impossible. Two people were rescued and admitted to the hospital.
The accident occurred at around 11 am today. The accident happened on the land where piling was being done for the construction of a flat. Three workers were at the site. Locals said that a landslide occurred at the site two days ago, and the authorities were already warned. Locals alleged that the building construction was done using unscientific soil extraction, and a complaint had been filed against this.
