Young man sets fire to LPG cylinder on truck at Thalayolaparambu, major disaster averted

KOTTAYAM: A Young man attempted suicide by setting fire to the LPG cylinder lorry parked at Thalayolaparambu. A Kadaplamattom native was taken into Thalayolaparambu police custody in the incident. The incident happened today around 12:30 am. The driver of the lorry carrying LPG cylinders from Ernakulam is a native of Vettikkattumukku; therefore, the lorry is parked regularly at the Vettikkattumukku junction.


The man who climbed over the lorry attempted suicide by opening a full cylinder and setting it on fire. A car passenger passing by saw this and informed the nearby house. The family immediately informed the police and the Vaikom fire and rescue office. The locals say that a huge disaster was averted because no other cylinders caught fire. They also stated that the man had been wandering in the place since the previous evening. Following the incident, the Thalayolaparambu-Ernakulam road faced a huge traffic block.
