KOLLAM: Two police officers were injured in a brawl during a temple festival in Pathanapuram. CPOs Aneesh and Nikhil were injured in the incident. The police jeep was also damaged in the incident. Aneesh suffered injuries to his leg.

The attack took place on the 11th of this month at the Puthenkavu Mahavishnu Temple, located in Pidavoor, Pathanapuram. The police registered a case against Sajeev (Devan), a native of Pidavoor, in the incident. He is absconding. Sajeev’s dispute with his paternal uncle's son, temple president Unni, started during the last three-tier panchayat elections.

Sajeev, who had arrived at the temple in his jeep with his pet dog, got into an argument with Unni. With this, the police asked Sajeev to leave the place. But after a while, he returned with deadly weapons. Police reached the spot when Sajeev had already damaged two of Unni’s vehicles parked in the yard. When he saw the officials arriving, Sajeev started his jeep and crashed it into the police vehicle. The front portion of the jeep was completely damaged. The police say that Sajeev is a KAAPA case accused.
