KOZHIKODE: A complaint has been filed for denying birth certificate to a baby born at home. The complaint was filed by Sharafath of Kottooli in Kozhikode against the officials of the health department. The baby was born in November 2024. While talking to a media, he said that he has lodged a complaint with the human rights commission asserting that birth certificate is being denied even after four months of the baby’s birth.

The baby’s mother said that she had studied acupuncture and was against consuming medicines. It has been only two years since she arrived at her residence in Kozhikode. She only knows the people nearby. She does not know any ASHA or Anganwadi workers. Sharafath said that she was examined at Iqraa Hospital in Kozhikode and has the documents of it. The date given was on October 28. She thought would go to the hospital at the time of labor pains and so did not go to the hospital on the 28th. She said that she did not go to hospital on that date as the doctors said they would induce labour pains.
