KOCHI: The High Court has granted bail to a young man who tried to kill his mother citing that she did not give him money for the New Year celebrations. The bail was granted by the request of his mother. Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan, a native of Karakkamandapam, Thiruvananthapuram, granted bail with conditions, stating that he would not make his unfortunate mother suffer again. The court said that a mother's love is like a rose which remains in blooms at all times.
The young man attacked his mother with a knife. She suffered 12 wounds on her head, face and hand. The young man applied for bail in a case registered by the Nemom police, stating that he has been in judicial custody since January 1 and that he has not committed the crime. The High Court's position was that it would take a decision after hearing the opinion of the victim's mother. Followig this, in a statement recorded and presented by the police, the mother requested that her son be granted bail. "As a mother, I cannot bear to see my son in jail..." she said.
The mental state of the country's youth is shocking and disturbing. The court also said that the society and parents should keep a close eye on them. The accused will have to appear before the investigating officer every Monday until the chargesheet is filed. He will have to furnish his own bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties. The mother can inform the police if he gets involved in any other crime and can approach the court to cancel his bail, the high court said.
