‘Father told me not to be tensed, amma is alive’; says Kala’s son

ALAPPUZHA: My mother is not dead, said son of Kala, who went missing in Mannar 15 years ago. My mother is alive and I firmly believe that she will be brought back soon, he said. While talking to the media, he said that his father told him that the police will not find anything in the investigation and that their probe is in the wrong way.

Kala, daughter of Chellappan and Chandrika, went missing from Mannar 15 years ago. Kala’s son was only one-year-old then. Anil Kumar, husband of Kala had filed a complaint with the police after she went missing. He wandered around in the name of finding her. Meanwhile, Anil told everyone that she eloped with someone after leaving them. Anil later got married a second time. Kala's son lives with them now.

The police arrested five in the incident. Anil's brother-in-law Somarajan, relatives Jinu Gopi, Pramod, Santhosh and Suresh Kumar are in custody. District police chief Chaithra Teresa John said Anil was the mastermind of the murder. Anil’s suspicion led to the murder. She was murdered in 2009. He took her to many places on the pretext of going on a tour and later brought her to Kuttanad. Killed her with the help of his relatives and then dumped the body in the septic tank. He later told everyone that she goes missing.
