NEW DELHI: Shashi Tharoor MP facing criticisms from the congress leadership in Kerala, came forward replying to them. ‘People showering criticisms should have some basis for saying this. Who are they? I want to know. Don’t ask me about the behaviour of others. I can only talk about my behaviour,’ Tharoor responded to the media in Delhi.
K Muraleedharan had the other day said that Tharoor would no longer be welcomed to the party programme in the state till he reverses remarks made after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor in April.
‘We will not invite Tharoor to any party programme in Thiruvananthapuram until he changes his stand. He is not with us. We do not need to wait until he is expelled from the party. The national leadership will decide whether action is needed or not,’ Muraleedharan said. Rajmohan Unnithan MP had also harshly criticized Tharoor.
‘Unnithan alleged that Tharoor's presence in the party would be a threat and that he would leak information to the BJP. Unnithan said that if he is reluctant to continue in the party, he should resign and leave.’
The criticisms come one after the other after Shashi Tharoor said that he gives priority to development over politics and political parties. He faced severe criticism for his remarks on Emergency and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, as well as for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Meantime, he downplayed any conflict with the party and described such incidents as differences of opinion among some elements of the leadership. Tharoor also pointed out that he has been loyal to the party and its ideology for the past 16 years.
