KOCHI: The family of former ADM Naveen Babu in Kannur has raised a suspicion whether he was murdered. His family alleged that the chances of killing and hanging him cannot be ruled out and that the inquest was conducted hastily before the relatives arrived. This was mentioned in the plea filed by Manjusha, wife of Naveen Babu, in the high court seeking a CBI probe.

The conclusion of the police that it is a case of suicide cannot be taken at face value. There is a lapse on the side of the police in many things including in conducting the inquest. The inquest was conducted before the relatives arrived. The investigating officers did not collect the CCTV footage. The family also alleged that there is an attempt to destroy the evidence.

The family is not satisfied with the police investigation. If the state police investigate, many things will not come out. Many are releasing stories related to the incident. The accused in the case is a CPM leader. She has great influence, including in the administrative level. This may affect the investigation of the case. Therefore, the family demanded that the case be investigated by the CBI.

Another public interest litigation has been filed in the high court over his death. The plea was filed by Muraleedharan of Cherthala. He also demanded a CBI probe. Naveen was found dead in his quarters on October 15.
