THRISSUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Kerala next month to engage with the BJP's ward-level development teams. BJP State General Secretary M.T. Ramesh, who explained the decisions taken during the meeting of district presidents and general secretaries held in Thrissur, announced that Shah will inaugurate the ward-level development team conference in Thiruvananthapuram on July 13. Amit Shah will also inaugurate the party's new state committee office.

The concept of “Developed Wards” will be discussed at the ward level to formulate a structured plan. Development teams have already been formed in approximately 17,000 wards. As part of this, ward conferences will be conducted from August 1 to 10. On August 15, tri-colour rallies named “Swabhimana Trivarna Rally” will be organised in all wards to raise public awareness about independence and national pride. An activity plan has been prepared extending up to November 1. Despite various challenges, the BJP aims to perform well in areas like Nilambur.

The meeting was attended by BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Kummanam Rajasekharan, P.K. Krishnadas, A.N. Radhakrishnan, Sobha Surendran, Adv. P. Sudheer, C. Krishnakumar, and Adv. Mohan George, among others.

Were some leaders excluded?
There are allegations that some senior leaders, including former state presidents V. Muraleedharan and K. Surendran, were not invited to the BJP leadership meeting held in Thrissur. However, senior leaders like Kummanam Rajasekharan, P.K. Krishnadas, M.T. Ramesh, and S. Suresh were present at the meeting.

The leadership has dismissed the allegations of exclusion, clarifying that the Thrissur meeting was not a state leadership meeting. It was an evaluation meeting for “Mission 2025” in connection with preparations for the upcoming elections. Only district presidents and those in charge of local election responsibilities participated.

'It wasn’t a meeting they were supposed to attend'
When asked by the media about the absence of former state presidents V. Muraleedharan and K. Surendran, M.T. Ramesh clarified that they were not expected to attend the Thrissur meeting. He stated that it was a meeting of district presidents and general secretaries, not a state-level leadership meeting. Both leaders will attend the core committee meeting scheduled for June 30 in Thiruvananthapuram.
