THRISSUR: Sarath Prasad was removed from the post of DYFI District Secretary and from the CPM District Committee. The move is after the party took action in the audio tape controversy. Current DYFI treasurer Rossal Raj will become the new secretary.

Disciplinary action against Sarath was in the conversation he had about A.C. Moytheen MLA and M.K. Kannan. The allegations against the leaders were made in a five-year-old conversation Sarath had with DYFI district committee member Nibin Srinivasan, who was expelled from the party for alleging that there is corruption in cooperative institutions. It is not known who leaked this conversation. The CPM district committee had earlier decided to suspend Sarath from the party for one year. It was the state committee that decided to remove him from the post of DYFI district secretary. Central committee member R. Rahul attended the meeting.

Kunthakaran Pathros' grandson

Rossal Raj, who was appointed as the DYFI district secretary, is the grandson of Kunthakaran Pathros, a Punnapra Vayalar protest leader, Communist Party secretary and revolutionary. Son of Adv Selvaraj and Rosakutty, Rossal is a member of the CPM Ollur area committee.

Vaisakhan in, Sarath out

D.Y.F.I. Secretary NV Vaisakhan was also ousted in a controversy two years ago. He was removed from the post of secretary following a complaint by a woman activist. Sarath Prasad was his replacement. Vyshakhan was recently reinstated, but Sharath has been ousted.
