THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chandy Oommen MLA has responded to allegations made by Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, who claimed that former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had destroyed his family. Chandy Oommen said Ganesh Kumar should ask his own conscience whether such a statement was right.
He said he did not wish to respond publicly to the issue but added that, if Ganesh Kumar has a conscience, he should reflect on whether his remarks were appropriate. Chandy Oommen also said he does not want to drag his late father into controversies. He clarified that he had only said he did not expect such statements about Oommen Chandy from someone like Ganesh Kumar, and that he had not made any personal attacks.
“I do not intend to insult anyone personally. But what I said is the truth, and the people of Kerala can understand that. I am not interested in allegations and counter-allegations,” Chandy Oommen said.
Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar had earlier stated that Oommen Chandy was responsible for destroying his family. He was responding to allegations made by Chandy Oommen that Ganesh Kumar had engaged in nefarious acts in the Solar case to incriminate Oommen Chandy.
Responding to these claims, Ganesh Kumar said that Chandy Oommen was trying to mislead people on the eve of the elections by bringing up issues that were unknown for years. He said that the statement he gave to the CBI could be verified by anyone.
“Before my father died, he told me that Oommen Chandy was not the kind of person who would do such things. In the statement to CBI, I reiterated that I believe Oommen Chandy would never do such an act. However, it was the same Oommen Chandy who destroyed my family, took everything away from me, and acted as a mediator to separate me from my children. Shouldn’t there be a response to such wrongdoing? Will Oommen Chandy or his son answer for the cruelty that broke my family and left me and my children helpless? I too have many things to say about what was done,” Ganesh Kumar said.
