KOCHI: Amidst growing debates within the Congress party regarding the Chief Ministerial candidate, former Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has stated that he did not reach his current position overnight. Speaking after receiving the P.K. Deevar Award in Kochi, Chennithala remarked that he is not someone who "dropped out of thin air" one fine morning, but rather someone who reached this level through immense hard work.
Chennithala noted that while anyone can become a leader on social media today, he belongs to a generation that toiled for the sake of the party. He recalled his experiences as the Treasurer of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) to illustrate his journey. He remembered that no one provided funds at the time and recalled how V.M. Sudheeran had once referred to the post as a decorative title.
He further described the hardships and challenges he overcame, mentioning how they used to travel on bicycles to establish KSU units. Chennithala stated that the movement they believe in remains greater than any individual. Meanwhile, he did not offer a response regarding the incident where flex boards were erected for V.D. Satheesan in Kannur and Aluva.
