
ALAPPUZHA: Former League leader Irshad Chakkalassery, who made anti-women remarks against LDF candidate U Pratibha MLA from Kayamkulam constituency, was arrested and released on bail. Kayamkulam police registered Irshad's arrest and released him on bail. U Pratibha and others had filed a complaint against Irshad and so a case was registered accordingly.
The case was registered under sections including insulting womanhood and spreading obscene content via new media. A charge has also been filed under the IT Act for spreading obscene content. She said that she filed the complaint to send a message to society that abusive or derogatory remarks should not be made against a woman. She also said that she is being widely subjected to cyber-attacks and is facing personal attacks in cyberspace. U Pratibha has warned that legal action will be taken against those continue doing such things.
