K T Jaleel clarifies stance: ‘Will not join P V Anwar’s political party’

MALAPPURAM: Former Minister K.T. Jaleel has made it clear that he will not be joining MLA P.V. Anwar’s political party. Speaking to the media, Jaleel expressed his disapproval of Anwar’s recent allegations against the Chief Minister’s Political Secretary P. Sasi and CPM Malappuram District Secretary E.N. Mohandas. However, he affirmed his continued association with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) as an ally.

“Even if someone threatens to shoot me, I will not speak against the Chief Minister or the CPM,” Jaleel stated at a press conference. While maintaining his friendship with Anwar, Jaleel emphasized his disagreement with the MLA’s political views, particularly the idea of forming a new party. “If he [Anwar] intends to establish a political party, I will strongly oppose it. I will remain loyal to the Left Front and continue my public work as a companion of the CPM,” Jaleel added.

Jaleel also defended E.N. Mohandas, noting that even his political opponents had not raised the kind of accusations made by Anwar. “Any political criticism against Mohandas is acceptable, but labeling him as connected to the RSS is baseless. I cannot support that claim,” Jaleel said, distancing himself from Anwar’s allegations against P. Sasi as well.

On the ongoing investigation involving Sujit Das, Jaleel remarked that there was prima facie evidence against the officer, and appropriate action had been taken. He further suggested that the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) should be replaced and expressed confidence in the direction of the investigation. "I believe the investigation is progressing in the right direction, though Anwar may not fully grasp the situation," Jaleel concluded.
