KK Valsaraj vacates; KG Sivanandan new CPI district secretary

THRISSUR: The CPI district conference concluded. KG Sivanandan is the new district secretary. Sivanandan, who is currently the district executive member and AITUC state secretary, is a native of Kodungallur. A 57-member district council was also elected. Sivanandan was elected to the post vacated by KK Valsaraj, who was the district secretary for 11 years.

Former Minister VS Sunil Kumar and Adv TR Ramesh Kumar were also nominated for the post, but the state leadership supported Sivanandan's appointment as Secretary. Nine people, including Nattika MLA CC Mukundan, who was in the current District Council, were excluded. 20-member state conference representatives were also elected.

State Secretary Binoy Viswam, CPI National Council members Sathyan Mokeri, J. Chinju Rani, Adv. N. Rajan, State Executive Member C.N. Jayadevan, K.K. Valsaraj, K.G. Sivanandan, K.V. Vasantha Kumar, and N.K. Udayaprakash spoke while greeting the delegates on the concluding day.
