THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader K Muraleedharan has criticised UDF convener Adoor Prakash for making a statement in favour of actor Dileep in the actress assault case. He said that such a statement should not have been made by a person holding a responsible position and that making such statements, that too on the polling day, is like handing over weapons to political opponents.
"Adoor Prakash's statement was highly irresponsible. The KPCC president had announced the party's stance soon after the verdict came out. The statement made by Adoor Prakash yesterday goes against the party's policy. There is no need to teach him such things. He is a person who has a vast political experience. I do not understand why someone like him made such a statement on the polling day," Muraleedharan said.
"The statement created many difficulties in society. Making such a statement, that too on polling day, is like handing over weapons to our political opponents. However, this will not affect the election. Everyone who went to the polling booth yesterday went with a firm decision. I don’t believe a statement like this has the power to change that. People will treat it only as an individual opinion. But the party’s view is that he should not have made such a remark,” he added.
