
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress and UDF have started preparations for the assembly elections with the confidence given by the huge victory in the local body elections. UDF will formulate Mission 2026 in January. The plan is to complete the seat sharing in January and release the manifesto in February. The agreement in the front is to complete the seat sharing by January 15. It has been instructed to decide the candidates for the seats of the constituent parties in advance. The plan is for senior leaders to go to each district for election work. It has been decided to assess the local body victory and examine the places where there was defeat and discuss further action.
Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan said that the camp in Bathery will discuss the report given by the leaders in January. The meeting also decided to resolve the issues quickly and go together. Notably, Congress has not reached an agreement on who the chief ministerial candidate will be. However, it is reported that V.D. Satheesan will be the captain of the march ahead of the assembly elections.
Meanwhile, information emerged that the Trinamool Congress led by former MLA P.V. Anvar and the Democratic Political Party led by CK. Janu will join the UDF. V.D. Satheesan announced in a press conference that it has been decided to make both parties associate members of the UDF. The decision was taken at the UDF Coordination Committee meeting held today. V.D. Satheesan clarified that both parties have expressed their desire to join the UDF and the party's decision was taken after discussions on the written request.
