THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that those who file complaints against Congress leader Rahul Mamkootathil need not fear for their lives. The government will give necessary protection to those who file complaints. He also said that the allegations raised against Rahul were extremely serious, highlighting that threats to kill a pregnant woman are a grave criminal offence.

The Chief Minister also lashed out at Opposition Leader VD Satheesan over the latter's response regarding the Rahul Mamkootathil issue. He pointed out that the position of opposition leader is highly significant in the state and commands public attention.

CM's response

“There have been differing opinions within the Congress regarding the Rahul Mamkootathil issue. Political activity must be guided by morality and decency, which many feel is being lost. Some leaders within the Congress have expressed that Rahul cannot be accepted.

Despite the large number of complaints, it is unacceptable for the opposition leader to take a stance protecting the accused. Satheesan has reacted provocatively rather than responsibly. Should someone like him react in such a manner? His reaction does not reflect the responsibility expected of him. The government will take all legally possible actions against Rahul Mamkoottathil.”
