NEW DELHI: K Sudhakaran MP said he stands firm on proposing Ramesh Chennithala as the Chief Ministerial candidate. He was speaking to the media after his meeting with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Sudhakaran said that he has received certain assurances from the Congress high command regarding party positions. He added that Rahul Gandhi had given him some assurances and he expects them to be fulfilled.
"I don't know when these assurances will be implemented, but it does not matter whether they are fulfilled or not. I haven't placed any personal demands and I do not need a position to work with party workers in the state. I'm happy that Rahul Gandhi called me for discussions. During the meeting, we spoke about Congress affairs in Kerala. I'm sure that the Congress party will win the elections," Sudhakaran said.
Sudhakaran added that he stepped back from contesting in Kannur as per the party’s direction.
Sudhakaran visited Delhi along with his family and met Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Sharing photos of the meeting on X, Rahul Gandhi described Sudhakaran as a leader who has fought for the people of Kerala through many challenges and hardships.
