THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have issued notices to BJP leaders, including Thiruvananthapuram Deputy Mayor and councillors, in connection with the protest march to Vattiyoorkavu police station over the Nettayam clash. Deputy Mayor Asha Nath and councillors Sumi Balu and Yamuna have been asked to appear at the police station tomorrow to give their statements. Former DGP and BJP councillor R Sreelekha is the fifth accused in the case, while Asha Nath is the sixth accused. Sumi Balu has been listed as the first accused.

Notices were served to the BJP councillors based on a police report. According to the report, BJP leaders behaved in a manner that insulted the police. R Sreelekha’s remarks against the police during the protest had sparked controversy. She was added as an accused in the case recently. Police went to her house to serve the notice, but could not do so as she was out of town.
