KANNUR: Left Front Convenor EP Jayarajan said that UDF got a victory in Puduppally that was not expected by LDF. Why it happened will be examined and presented before the people. He alleged that there were interferences to take advantage of Oommen Chandy's death and sad condition to create a favourable situation for UDF and hold elections very soon.

There is no situation in Kerala today where an anti-government sentiment should arise. It is true that there is a financial problem. Farmers have not been fully paid for the procured rice. However, the government did provide an opportunity for everyone to celebrate Onam by collecting maximum financial resources, Jayarajan said.

In the history of India, there has never been an incident where an election has been completed within 48 days of the death of a representative. EP Jayarajan also accused the commission of announcing the election without even holding a preliminary discussion with the government. Event management was used to create and sustain sympathy following Oommen Chandy's death. He added that the task of handing over the candidate selection to the family of the deceased was part of a strategy to tap into the sympathy wave.
