KOLLAM: CPI members resigned en masse in Kollam, Kadayakkal. 112 people holding various positions left the party. The unexpected incident took place in Minister J Chinju Rani's Chadayamandalam constituency. Ten mandal committee members, 45 local committee members, 48 branch secretaries, and nine block-grama panchayat members resigned.

The resignation was announced by calling a press conference to express dissatisfaction with the district leadership. The leaders said that more than 700 party members have resigned. They also clarified that the decision was due to internal party issues. Meanwhile, the CPI district leadership said that the members who resigned include a person who had committed corruption and faced organisational action. The leadership explains that the claim that the workers left the party is baseless.
