Showed gratitude to all those who helped me, says Unnikrishnan Potty; taken to Ranni court

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The special investigation team left for Ranni with Unnikrishnan Potty, arrested in the Sabarimala theft case. They left from the crime branch office in Enchakkal after completing the procedures. He will be produced in the Ranni court at 12 noon. The investigating officers will file a custody plea today itself.

If Unnikrishnan Potty is taken into custody today, he will be taken to one of the camps in Pathanamthitta for preliminary interrogation. After that, the investigation team will move on to matters including collecting evidence. They need to take him to places including Hyderabad to collect evidence. So far, the stolen things have not been found. It is also necessary to find out who all are behind Unnikrishnan Potty.

Unnikrishnan Potty's statement to the investigation team is that there is a huge conspiracy behind the gold theft. He has also given a statement against devaswom officials. He also stated that Kalpesh was brought as part of the conspiracy. It is indicated that the investigating officers have got information about Kalpesh.

He has accepted money from many. In addition to the devaswom board officials, the administrative panel has also helped. Unnikrishnan Potty told the investigating officers that he had showed gratitude to all. The investigating officers led by S P Sasidharan questioned him.

He was taken into custody yesterday morning from his house in Pulimath near Kilimanoor. After grilling him for about 10 hours, his arrest was recorded Friday morning at 2:30 am. In March 2019, the gold sheets of the Dwarapalaka idols were smuggled and the gold was stolen.

He was subjected to a medical examination at the General Hospital in the capital city.
