Bigg Boss winner and filmmaker Akhil Marar recently joined Twenty20, a constituent party of the NDA. Reports also indicate that he may contest from Kottarakkara in the upcoming Assembly elections. Actor Unni Mukundan has now drawn attention with a social media post praising Akhil Marar’s decision to enter politics.

In his post, Unni Mukundan described the decision taken at this crucial stage of Akhil’s life as one of the most significant. He also noted that entering mainstream politics without a political godfather or generational backing is a courageous step.

A small note for a friend.
Akhil, I may not know every detail of your family background, but one thing is absolutely clear to anyone who has observed your journey, you did not come from privilege. And that is precisely what makes your story so powerful.
This note comes from a place of genuine admiration. A boy from a small family, from a little village, rising step by step to become what you are today and what you are about to become, is deeply inspiring. Not just for many out there, but for me also.
From what I’ve heard through common friends, you were always a very intelligent student , someone with clarity in thought and sharp opinions. Over time, watching you articulate your standpoints only justified those claims. Clarity is not accidental. It comes from thinking deeply, observing closely, and living honestly.
The images of you selling soda, working as a fruit vendor, those are powerful. They don’t show struggle as much as they show dignity. They show a young man who was never obsessed with “white-collar” validation. You were willing to work. To slog. To earn. There is something extremely grounding about that. It builds character in a way comfort never can.
I first met you almost a decade ago, an aspiring filmmaker with fire in your eyes. That meeting may not have borne fruit immediately, but what stayed with me was your hunger. Later, when I saw you become a film director, I saw a man of action. Again, no background, no backing, just will.
Then came your journey into Bigg Boss Malayalam. I don’t usually discuss private conversations, but this one deserves to be shared. I remember your apprehension before entering the show. I told you then, I see a winner in you, and you have nothing to lose. You walked in. You gave it your all. And you won, in grand style. That speaks volumes. When you enter a field, you don’t enter halfway.
Off late, meeting you on the cricket field reinforced the same observation. Extremely involved. Competitive. A team man. Always willing to give your best. Being part of KS itself is no small achievement for anyone who understands competitive cricket. It requires commitment, discipline, and heart.
And now, politics !
This decision, at this age and at this crucial point in your life, is probably the most monumental one you’ve taken. Stepping into mainstream politics without a godfather, without generational political backing that is courage. For today’s youth to see someone from a humble background choose public service instead of personal comfort, that is inspiring.
Whether one agrees or disagrees with ideologies is secondary. Personally, I hold respect for politicians across spectrums, because at some level, they have chosen to take responsibility for society. It is easy to criticize from the sidelines. It is harder to step into the arena.
You have spoken. You have addressed issues. Now comes the real test, delivery. Action will always speak louder than words. And it takes real guts to stand alone and execute.
