NEW DELHI: Three members of a family died tragically after inhaling toxic gas in an AC blast in the middle of the night in Faridabad, Haryana. One person escaped by jumping through a window. Sachin Kapoor, his wife Rinku Kapoor and their daughter Sujan Kapoor died tragically in the incident. The casualty also includes the family’s pet dog. The accident occurred at around 1.30 am on Sunday when an AC compressor exploded on the fourth floor of the building.

The black smoke seeped into the second floor where Sachin Kapoor and his family were sleeping. The three died of suffocation due to smoke inhalation. Their son, who was sleeping in another room, jumped out of the window and escaped. He is undergoing treatment after getting seriously injured in the fall. The third floor was used as Sachin Kapoor's office. There was no one on the first floor either.

As per the police, the Kapoor family might have tried to open the terrace door, which was locked. The thick smoke obstructing the view left the family clueless about locating the door. The son, however, managed to spot a glass window and he broke it to jump out to the ground, though suffering serious injuries.

Firefighters rescued seven others from the building on the fourth floor. It is said that the AC, which exploded, was repaired almost a month ago. The police investigation is also focusing on the wiring connections of the building.
