THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi said she feels disgusted when she sees people cheering for those who assault women. She shared her opinion through a post on social media. Bhagyalakshmi wrote that seeing women who support such offenders is even more disturbing, and that the statement “we still stand with the survivor” becomes a joke in such situations.
'Seeing people shouting ‘victory’ for the offender is disgusting. Even worse is seeing the women who support him. And finally, the biggest comedy is when these people say, ‘we stand with the survivor,’' Bhagyalakshmi wrote.
Bhagyalakshmi has consistently supported the survivor in the actress assault case. She reiterated her support soon after the trial court delivered its verdict recently. When the eighth accused, actor Dileep, was acquitted and efforts began to reinstate him into FEFKA, she resigned from the organisation in protest. She openly criticised FEFKA, accusing the group of double standards for professing solidarity with the survivor while simultaneously backing the actor.
She said this is not the final verdict and that there will be an appeal in higher courts. Bhagyalakshmi also stated that the opponent is powerful, wealthy, and influential, and there is nothing more she can do except stand firmly with the survivor.
