JEE Main 2026: Alternative date for April 5 exam, says Suresh Gopi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister Suresh Gopi has announced that students who are unable to appear for the JEE Main 2026 exam on April 5, which falls on Easter Sunday, will be given an opportunity to write the exam on another date. He said that this assurance was given by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Suresh Gopi shared this update through a Facebook post.

Students who wish to change their exam date from April 5 must urgently send their details to the email ID jeemain.query@nta.ac.in. The last date to submit the request is March 28, 2026.

The second phase of the JEE Main 2026 is scheduled to be held from April 2 to April 10. However, the inclusion of April 5, which is Easter Sunday during the Holy Week, caused major concern among Christian students and their parents.

Considering a petition submitted by Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, letters were sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requesting urgent intervention on the issue.

Taking the seriousness of the matter into account, Dharmendra Pradhan contacted and informed that students who are unable to attend the exam on April 5 (Easter Sunday) will be given an opportunity to apply for a change of exam date.
