KOCHI: Footage of a man participating in the Kochi marathon with a baby strapped to his chest in a carrier went viral on social media. However, the response received was tepid. The man, who ran among dozens of others, became the centre of attention due to the baby. Netizens responded indignantly to the heedless act.

In the footage, the man was seen running, while holding a bottle in his left hand and supporting the baby's head with his right hand. The baby was sleeping during this time. The footage, which was shared on social media expecting praise, ended up getting harsh criticism.

Social media users called out the ignorance of the man and even raised concerns over the health and safety of the baby.

“It is not a super dad show, but negligence in the name of fitness.” Many advised against using such tropes using babies in the pretext of fitness.

“The tremble and shake during running may affect the physical condition of the baby. How did the organizers allowed such an inane and dangerous thing to happen?” said one comment.

What started as a cute moment has now sparked a serious discussion about the shortcomings of modern parenting and child safety.
