THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VA Arunkumar, son of former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, penned down a Facebook post for the first time after the death of the veteran communist leader. Arunkumar, in a lengthy post, expressed gratitude to all people who came to pay their last respects to VS Achuthanandan.
Arunkumar:
“This morning is also the realisation that my father is no longer with me. For the past month, I had hoped that my father would come back to life. Hundreds of close friends of my father wanted to meet him at the hospital, but they couldn’t due to strict orders from doctors. I am sure that some among them might have felt distressed in not being able to meet VS, but I hope they understand the situation.
I doubt whether I responded warmly enough even to those who came to the hospital and consoled me. My psyche was wavering as I couldn’t fathom the reality of my father’s death. The things that happened and the sea of supporters who swarmed to pay homage all felt like a dream. While sitting in the bus, I witnessed the supporters, the slogans raised and the cries among people.
I understand that many people, despite waiting for hours, couldn’t pay their last respects to my father. I can only express my gratitude to all the people who consoled me, to the doctors who treated my father, the sea of supporters and to the party…”
