The tea is prepared in more than 30 flavours including hibiscus, butterscotch, honey, Butterfly pea flower, Indian masala, pineapple and lavender. The daily income is Rs 20,000. Teas are available for Rs 15 to Rs 50.
Snacks including Kallumakkaya Nirachathu, a speciality of North Malabar, are also available. The working hours are from 3 pm to 12 midnight. The owners are Nived, Shamseer, Shad (B.B.A.) and Yaseen (History), who completed their studies and passed out from Madayi College in 2025. The four are the sons of autorickshaw driver, vegetable shop worker and construction worker.
The workers in the shop are also their friends. The shop was opened last March. The college principal MV Johnny was the inaugurator. The shop was named after the students on campus.
Breaking 'The Fast' with Tea, a turning point
The idea of earning an income started during the second year of graduation. They explored the possibility of breaking their fast by drinking tea. From that day on, after class, they traveled to various parts of Kannur on their bikes in search of tea with different flavours. The design of the shop, including the decorations made from a designed handcart and an old tyre, was also prepared by these four friends. All four are active in the shop. In the meantime, preparations for higher studies are underway. The group's desire is to make tea with different flavours under their brand.
The reason for the success is that everyone stood by us until the goal was achieved. The tea and flavours used are unadulterated and are collected from different parts of the country.
