Bibin Chacko, a native of Thiruvaniyoor, Ernakulam, dreams of a job in a luxury car company. As a stepping stone towards that, this 26-year-old designed and built his own car modeled after a Lamborghini. The cost was Rs 1.25 lakh! When Bibin shared his confidence that he could build his own Lamborghini Huracan worth Rs 4 crore at a low cost three years ago, everyone except his best friend Tom frowned. Today, they are all applauding the 26-year-old's Made-in-Thiruvaniyoor Lamborghini.
Bibin, a quality assurance employee in a private company in Ernakulam, has been passionate about cars since childhood. The dream of a Lamborghini came to him when he was a final-year student in mechanical engineering. With Tom's support, he started building the Made-in-Thiruvaniyoor Lamborghini at the end of 2022. The garage was the porch of the house. He learned his lessons from YouTube.
Bibin Chacko was helped by a close relative who ran a welding workshop. He handed over the welding machine and other things, saving on costs. The engine from a Maruti 800 car was used. 8 mm wire and GI pipe were used for the frame. The body is made of fibre. Bibin's parents are T.O. Chacko and Mini. Sister: Binsha.
Newspaper distribution for capital
Until Bibin got a job, he was a distributor of newspapers including Kerala Kaumudi. The Lamborghini was built by setting aside a certain amount from this income. The goal is to complete the construction within about 1.5 lakh.
"Two people, including the driver, can ride in it. The doors are in the butterfly model. The car is constructed on Saturdays, Sundays and at night. Maruti Alto tires were used. The size of the car was reduced accordingly. The reason for the delay in construction is financial difficulties. There are finishing touches left. The locals are also providing good support."
