KOCHI: Malayali's interest in mutual funds is on the rise as they have already invested Rs 56,050.36 crore in mutual funds. According to the Association of Mutual Funds in India in August, 69 percent of Malayalis choose equity based mutual funds. 20 percent people invested in debt and liquid schemes. Nine percent were also invested in balanced schemes.
Meeta Shetty, manager of Tata Mutual Fund, said that Tata Mutual Fund also had a similar experience in Kerala. 76 percent of Tata's assets come from equity schemes. 15 percent is from debt and liquid plans and nine percent from balanced plans.
Rs 20,245.26 crore came in equity mutual fund schemes across the country in August 2023. The smallcap segment attracted investments of Rs 4,264.82 crore. Rs 4,805.81 crore was received for sectoral thematic funds. Rs 3,422.14 crore was received in the multicap category. "The association's figures show that mutual funds in India have total worth of Rs 46.63 lakh crore.", Meeta Shetty said.
