KOZHIKODE: Ooty, Mysore, and Kodaikanal trips are now accessible at low costs for travelers. KSRTC Budget Tourism Cell is expanding its tourism and pilgrimage trips beyond Kerala to neighboring states. Initially, trips will cover destinations like Ooty, Mysore, and Kodaikanal, operating from 80 depots across Kerala. Discussions with Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation and others are nearing completion. If successful, the initiative will extend to more destinations in neighboring states.
Super deluxe non-AC buses will be used for these tours. A tour coordinator will accompany travelers, explaining the historical and cultural significance of each destination during the journey. Packages will be available for two-day and three-day durations.
KSRTC has also launched over 1,000 holiday packages within Kerala for the holiday season. These include trips to high-range destinations like Chathurangapara, Munnar-Vagamon-Gavi routes, houseboat rides in Kollam Ashtamudi lake, and visits to Anchuruli and Ramakkalmedu in Idukki. Pilgrimage tours include major temples in Thiruvananthapuram and five temples such as Guruvayur and Vadakkumnatha Temple. Kochi Metro and Water Metro trips are also part of the package offerings. Additionally, theme-based trips have been designed for families.
KSRTC plans to introduce more double-decker buses to enhance the travel experience. Currently, three double-decker buses are operational. Exploring of options for affordable accommodations such as lodges, homestays, and dormitories are ongoing.
