Maha Kumbh Mela ends today; devotees flock to Prayagraj

NEW DELHI: The Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the world's largest religious gatherings will conclude ends today with the final dip at the confluence in Prayagraj on Shivratri. Devotees are flocking at the Triveni Sangam Prayagraj on Shivratri, the final day of the Maha Kumbh mela. The final dip will be held today. Crores of devotees are flocking to Prayagraj for the holy dip on Mahashivratri. According to the UP government, more than 62 crore pilgrims have arrived so far. A large crowd is being witnessed since this morning. The government has announced that security has been tightened. Medical units and fire brigade are ready 24 hours a day.

A massive sanitation drive involving 15,000 workers was entrusted to ensure cleanliness. They swept and cleaned about 10 kilometers. The Uttar Pradesh government said this set a new Guinness World Record. Arrangements were intensified at New Delhi and Prayagraj railway stations to control the crowd and congestion. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and actress Katrina Kaif took holy dip at Triveni Sangam yesterday. The UP Urban Development Department said that 15,953 metric tonnes of waste have been removed from the Kumbh Mela area so far. The next Poorna Kumbh Mela is scheduled to take place in Nashik in Maharashtra in 2027.
