Prices of food items hiked at railway stations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The prices of food items have been increased at static eateries at all stations on the Southern Railway. Idli prices have gone up from Rs 13 to Rs 20, while the cost of rice and fish curry has climbed from Rs 59 to Rs 95. Samosas, Parippu vada, and Uzhunu vada have all increased in price from Rs 17 per set to Rs 25 per set.

Pazhampori, which was previously priced at Rs 13, now costs Rs 20. Chickpea and egg curries are priced at Rs. 50 and Rs. 40, respectively. 200 grams of vegetable biryani will cost Rs 70. Egg biryani and chicken biriyani will cost Rs 80 and Rs 100 respectively.

The price increase came into effect on February 24. In the meantime, there has been no change in the cost of food at IRCTC-owned restaurants. Railways said that there is no change in the prices of tea and coffee. Railways added that this was the first price hike for food items at static stalls since 2013.
