THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian metrological department warned about the temperature rising in the state for the coming two days. Hot and humid weather is likely due to high temperatures and humid air. The State Disaster Management Authority has issued precautionary instructions for the public in case of rising temperatures.

High heat can cause serious health problems such as sunstroke, sunburn and dehydration. So the general public should follow the instructions. At least two litres of water should be consumed daily during hot weather.

  • Avoid direct exposure to sun during the day between 11 am and 3 pm.
  • Drink as much fresh water as possible. Keep drinking water even if you are not thirsty.
  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Encourage the use of ORS solutions.
  • There is a possibility that forest fires will spread in case of increasing heat. Tourists and people living near forest areas should be especially careful.
  • It is better for travellers to continue their journey after taking adequate rest. Keep water handy.
  • Construction workers, agricultural labourers, street vendors, and those engaged in any other strenuous work may adjust their working hours.
