THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The agriculture minister canceling his controversial trip to Israel was all news. The chief minister then directed the minister to drop the plans after the opposition went irate over the high-cost trip, especially at times when the state is mired in economic doom. But now, things have altered and the chief minister has given a yes nod to the agriculture minister's long-stalled Isreal sojourn. To quell the protest from the opposite side, the chief minister decided to include more farmers in the entourage which will see many officials and media elites losing their chance to visit Israel. Earlier the minister's Israel suite had 5 officials and 3 media persons. Now it has changed to one official and no media. Earlier applications were entertained from farmers and from this lot, 28 lucky ones were selected. 13 among these farmers never relied on the government but bought tickets with their money. It costs around RS 55,000 for the overall travel. The Israel journey will commence on February 12 and will extend up to the 19th.

The Israel trip is mainly focused to learn the modern intricacies adopted in farming and their benefits.
