ASI suspended after accused complains of reduced figures of seized cash in case documents

HARIPAD: Grade SI Nizar of Haripad station has been suspended for not producing the money seized from the person arrested in a theft case.

The action was taken on the complaint of Savithri, of Ayisseri in Mannarassala, who was arrested in a case pertaining to the theft of gold, money, and a mobile phone after coming to treat a bed-ridden patient. Savithri had given a statement to the police that at the time of her arrest, the police had seized Rs 38,500 and she got this money by mortgaging her house. But only Rs.2000 was stated in the documents related to the case. Savithri had also complained about the same in the court. The ASI was suspended as part of the ongoing investigation.
