ALUVA: A West Bengal native was arrested by Aluva cyber police after he was found guilty of GST fraud. Sanjay Singh from North 24 Parganas, siphoned Rs 2 crore after faking documents and registering two firms. The bills from these firms were used to siphon illegal money. This was done by forging documents showing transactions for the purchase and sale of goods between the two fake companies and other similarly created bogus companies. The company was registered in the name of a Binanipuram hotel owner Saji.

When the GST office issued a liability notice of Rs 2 crore to Saji, the surprise and angst made him go to the nearby police station to register a case. After district police chief Vivek Kumar’s direction, the case was transferred to Aluva cyber wing. A special team was made and the culprit behind the fraud was arrested from his apartment in Kolkata. The police doubt that the Adhaar card and other details submitted by Saji through online registration at times may have helped the Kolkata native hatch a sinister plan.
