‘No space for storage’; Rs 35 lakh worth dialysis equipment send by Rahul Gandhi to Malappuram hospital returned

MALAPPURAM: Rs 35 lakh worth dialysis equipment sent by Rahul Gandhi MP to Taluk hospital in Malappuram’s Vandoor has been returned. The medical officer sent the equipment back saying the space limitation to store it. But the hospital management came to know about this and asked to return them.

The Hospital Management Committee (HMC) has informed that an inquiry will be conducted against the medical officer and the staff. Vandoor Block Panchayat President who is also the HMC Chairman informed this. Three members of the HMC will conduct an inquiry against the medical officer. A report will then be given to the governing body. It was decided in the HMC meeting that it was wrong to return the equipment on the grounds of space limitation. It has also been decided to return the items to the hospital.
