KOLKATA: Nandini Chakraborty, an IAS officer who was the principal secretary of Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, has been transferred to the tourism department. The BJP had targeted the officer. Nandini has been appointed as principal secretary in the Department of Tourism as part of the appointment of a new team to manage the operations of the Raj Bhavan. The order of the Home Department in this regard came out yesterday.
The state unit of the BJP has been constantly demanding the transfer of Nandini Chakraborty. There are allegations that the officer was transferred by putting pressure on the governor. The governor's cordial relationship with Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had upset the BJP. Moreover, praising Mamata Banerjee in governor’s speeches also angered the party. The BJP alleged that Nandini Chakraborty was behind this. The party also accused Nandini of imposing the agenda of the state government on the Raj Bhavan. Following this, the officer was transferred.
Bengal BJP Chief Sukanta Majumdar had met the Governor last Saturday. There are also reports that Sukanta requested the Governor to transfer Nandini Chakraborty from the Raj Bhavan.
