NEW DELHI: The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) UAPA tribunal upheld central government's decision banning Popular Front of India (PFI). The ban on affiliated organizations of the Popular Front was also upheld. The action was by the tribunal led by Justice Dinesh Kumar.
The Popular Front of India was banned for five years in last September. Eight affiliated organizations including Campus Front of India, Rehab India Foundation, Empower India Foundation, All India Imams Council, National Women's Front and Junior Front were also banned.
The order said the organization had carried out terrorist activities and murders. The union ministry of home affairs had informed that the Popular Front is a challenge to national security and that the organization has links with terrorist organizations including ISIS.
