KOCHI: The film and political stalwarts paid tributes to actor and former MP Innocent. Mammootty, Dulquer Salman, Kunchacko Boban, Manoj K Jayan, Jayasuriya, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Muktha, M G Sreekumar, Kunjan, Mukesh, Idavelaq Babu, Vineeth, Joshi, Beena Antony, Suresh Krishna, Janardhanan, Sai Kumar, Bindu Panicker, Ministers R Bindu, K Rajan, P Prasad, opposition Leader V D Satheesan, CPM state secretary M V Govindan and others reached Indoor Stadium and paid their respects.
The body was taken to Irinjalakuda at 11 am. The body will be kept at the Town Hall from 12 to 3 pm for people to pay homage. The body will be later taken to his house in Irinjalakuda. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 am at St. Thomas Cathedral, Irinjalakuda.
The actor died last night at 10.30 pm. He was admitted to the Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi on March 2. Innocent, who was undergoing treatment for cancer, also had problems with his lungs, heart and kidneys.
Innocent, who was on ventilator and in the ICU, remained in critical condition for two weeks. A medical board led by Dr V P Ganghadharan treating the actor had convened a meeting last night.
The board decided at 10 pm to remove the actor from life-sustaining Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) system as there was no hoped. The actor’s death was confirmed at 10.30 pm.
