Sharp rise in Covid cases; 11109 persons test positive in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: With 11109 persons testing positive for Covid in the last 24 hours, India is witnessing a sharp increase in the number of Covid cases. While the test positivity rate stands at 5.01 percent, the weekly positivity rate stands at 4.29 percent. At present, there are 49,622 active cases in the country. 29 deaths due to Covid were reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll has reached 5,31,064.

With 467 doses administered in the last 24 hours, a total of 220.66 cr total Vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. More than a thousand people have been diagnosed with Covid in Delhi, Maharashtra and Kerala. The number of Covid patients is also increasing in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.
