NEW DELHI: Several people, including the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, have come out against PT Usha's remarks against the wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted that she has lost respect for Usha, her childhood hero. She also shared a news article about PT Usha criticizing the protest of wrestlers. CPM leader PK Sreemathy demanded that PT Usha should withdraw her statement.

"PT Usha is also a mother and a woman. She should not become the protector of the accused when the girls complain," Sreemathy said.

Earlier today, PT Usha sparked a controversy when she said that the wrestlers staging a protest on the street would tarnish the image of the country. Usha also said that instead of protesting on the streets, the wrestlers should have approached the Olympic Association. Wrestlers, who were part of the strike, also expressed their disagreement with PT Usha's remarks.
