NEW DELHI: CBI on Friday conducted raids at the residence and offices of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal. The CBI had registered a case against Naresh Goyal, his wife Anita Goyal and some other ex-employees of Jet Airways in connection with alleged the fraud of Rs 538 crore on a complaint by Canara Bank.

The CBI simultaneously raided seven places in Delhi and Mumbai, including the residences of Naresh Goyal and former director of Anita Goyal Company Gaurang Shetty. The main charge against Naresh Goyal is that he diverted and spent the money given by the bank. Jet Airways, which was one of the leading private airlines in India, ended its operations in 2019 due to severe financial crisis. In 2021, the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium took over the company and began efforts to restart operations. Initial information is that the ongoing raid is not related to the acquisition process of Jet Airways.
