Forest dept registers case against boy for plucking feathers off peacock

BHOPAL: Forest Department has registered a case against a boy for plucking feathers off a peacock for Instagram reels. The incident took place in Madhya Pradesh's Katni district. The forest department authorities registered the case after the video of the incident circulated on social media. The video shows a boy grabbing a peacock and plucking off its feathers. A girl can also be seen sitting nearby the boy. This video was shot by another youth.

The video received a lot of flak on social media. Many people shared the video. The authorities took action after this. The incident of harming the peacock was reported from within the limits of Reethi Police Station. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Gaurav Sharma said that the viral video has been noticed and the youth has been identified. Police have registered a case against a boy named Atul, a native of Reethi. The child was not present at home when the police team reached there to arrest him. Police have launched an investigation to find the accused.
