CHENNAI: A Malayali student went missing after entering a pond for a swim in Kanchipuram. The missing youth is 20-year-old Muhammed Ashmil, a native of Nilambur. The incident occurred at around 4 PM yesterday.

A group of 10 students had arrived at the quarry pond for swimming. They were in Chennai for an internship at a private company. Ashmil reportedly slipped and fell into the water.

A search operation continued until 8 PM last night but was unsuccessful. Efforts resumed again this morning. According to locals, the pond is approximately 300 feet deep. Ashmil's friends have urged authorities in Kerala to intervene and assist in the search operation.
