Murder of six-year-old Nakshatra; Accused father attempts suicide in jail

ALAPPUZHA: Sree Mahesh (38), the accused who hacked his six-year-old daughter with an axe in Mavelikara, tried to commit suicide in jail. The Mavelikkara court had earlier remanded the accused who brutally murdered six-year-old Nakshatra. Later, the accused cut his throat at Mavelikkara sub-jail. He was seriously injured and shifted to Vandanam Medical College. It is reported that his condition is critical.

The accused arrested for the murder of his daughter did not cooperate with the police interrogation. As per reports, police believe that the murder of Nakshatra by her father was premeditated and that he made a special axe for the murder. Police say that the accused was disappointed that his second marriage got cancelled. Six-year-old Nakshathra, of Anakkoottil in Punnamoodu, was killed last night.
