KOLLAM: Kundara sub registrar Reena and office attender Suresh Kumar was caught by vigilance while taking bribes. Rs 4000 was confiscated from them.
A document writer in the revenue office complained about the issue which led to the vigilance preparing a trap for the corrupt officers. It was last week that the complainant reached the office with three documents to register. Reena while skimming through the documents found mistakes and denied to work on them. However, the negotiations happened soon enough and the sub-registrar asked the complainant to come with Rs 4500 to register the documents.
Vigilance south division Superintendent Jaishankar was alerted about the incident. The vigilance reached the office along with the complaint and gave him chemical-laced currency notes. Attender Suresh Kumar took him to Reena’s office not having any idea about the trap. It was at this moment that the vigilance jumped into action arresting both. Reena and Suresh Kumar have been remanded by the Vigilance court in Thiruvananthapuram.
